Karen likes racing, all right -- she worked 6 years as Public Relations coordinator for Chris Aman Motorsports and one year as marketing coordinator for Tioga Speedway. Her husband, Jim, is a pit crew member for the Winston Cup Series driver Hut Stricklin, as well. Her one dislike when it comes to racing? Jim being on the road weekends. After graduating, Karen went on to earn a BS in Communications, with a journalism focus. Karen likes living in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she now works as a human resources coordinator for the Northeast Region of Rehabworks, Inc., a contract therapy company.

Favorite memory: The Senior Class Trip

Karen in 2007:
I can't believe it has been 20 years! My husband and I built a house on 4 acres in Statesville, NC. We love living in NC. We are still involved in NASCAR Racing but have a different perspective of it now, business. My husband, Jim, works for Evernham Motorsports in the engine dept. He "retired" from being a tire carrier several years ago because he did not like being away from home so much. I still haven't figured out what I want to be when I grow up. Jim keeps encouraging me to put my Journalism degree to work and write stories or books. Currently I am Supervisor of Employee Benefits for Thomasville Furniture Ind. which I enjoy most of the time when we are not closing plants and laying off manufacturing workers. Our greatest joy came in 2004 when we traveled to St. Petersburg, Russia to adopt our son, Jacob. He just turned 4 years-old and is the light of our life. We feel so blessed to have him in our life and our adoption journey was a rollercoaster ride that we will never forget. We enjoy camping and boating on Lake Tillery and any other activity we can do together as a family.
